Large Group Sessions
Some helpful tips for large groups and extended family pictures...
- Coordinate what everyone will wear.
- Have everyone wear the same or similar colors, or...
- Have smaller groups/families wear the same color but different from the
larger group. This can look nice and makes it easy to recognize family
groups
- Wear "Portrait smart" clothes.
- Consider black or khaki pants with white shirts.
- Jeans look nice for outdoor sessions.
- Keep the outfits simple and without patterns. This is especially
important
in a large groups in order to keep the focus on the faces and not the clothes. - Photographically,
lighter shirts will reflect up to your face and lighten it.
With dark colored shirts, faces can tend to take on that color and absorb the light. - Also pay attention to everyone's socks and shoes! White can appear
far
brighter and more annoying than you would expect.
- Hair cuts and glasses.
- For those who wear glasses, consider removing the lenses or going
without.
Unwanted glare can occur and it is hard to see a persons eyes with the lenses in and cannot always be edited out. - Avoid getting a new hair style right before
the session. It's best to have this done
1-2 weeks before to let it grow out.
- For those who wear glasses, consider removing the lenses or going
without.
