What to Bring/wear?

  • Bring things your interested in to help DEFINE you!! sports gear, jackets, trophies, sunglasses, musical instruments, class ring...
  • Bring outfits that you're comfortable in. If your uncomfortable (ie a shirt too small) it will show in your portraits. If you are having a hard time deciding bring extra's and Saima can help you decide.
  • Busy patterns and loud colors can be very distracting in your portraits. Avoid large and bold patterns that may draw attention away from your face. Avoid stripes, simple is better such as solids.
  • Long sleeve solids or very subtle prints are usually most flatering in portraits.
  • Avoid sleeveless and tanktops
  • Stay out of the sun for a week or two before your session. You don't want to have uneven sunburn, peeling skin on noses or raccoon eyes from sunglasses or strap lines on the shoulders of gals. Sunburn, uneven tanning and tan lines can not be retouched.
  • If you wear glasses please have the lenses removed or be prepared to remove the glasses during your session.
  • Bring your clothes on hanger and make sure they are ironed and that they fit properly.
  • For outdoor portraits, be careful of bright greens as they often clash or blend with the greens of the leaves and grass.
  • Choose a variety of outfits. Include both casual and more formal outfits in your senior portraits. Use a variety of colors. For example if you bring a black, gray and white outifts, your proofs will be really drab and boring.
  • Some poses will show your shoes so don't forget to bring shoes and socks for each outfit that you plan to wear. Bearfoot and sandles are great for your casual outfits. White socks don't photograph well, so bring darker ones. Choose shoes that are not overly bright (like sneakers) but that will blend with your outfit.
